A standby generator that only ever runs off load never proves it can carry your site, and slowly fouls up with wet stacking. A load bank test runs it at full load for a set time and records exactly how it performs.

Hospitals (HTM 06-01 requires regular load testing), data centres, sites whose generators rarely see real load, and anyone whose insurer or auditor asks for proof the set will perform.
